We run veraPDF, the open-source PDF/UA and PDF/A validator of the veraPDF Consortium, with its PDF/UA-1 (ISO 14289-1) profile. You see every failed rule with its clause, test number and description. Our automatic fix then repairs the document-level failures, and veraPDF checks the fixed file again — so before you pay you see exactly how many failed rules there were before and how many remain after.

Missing tags (structure tree), untagged page content, reading order, alternative text for images, table and form structure, fonts that are not embedded, scanned pages without text. These need the authoring tool (export as tagged PDF) or manual remediation; the result page lists them as remaining. veraPDF checks the machine-verifiable PDF/UA-1 requirements; some requirements (for example whether alt text is meaningful) need a human check. We therefore never call a file “accessible” or “compliant” — the result is stated as veraPDF numbers.
If your build generates PDFs, the free PDF/UA Accessibility Check action runs veraPDF on the runner and fails the build when a template change breaks PDF/UA-1 — the files never leave the runner. Every failed rule appears in the job summary and links to the rule reference.
